Dr. Kurt

My passion as Director (chief executive) of the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System is to provide world-class care and service to America’s Heroes.  We are fully implementing all 12 Veteran Centered Care Principles, which are closely aligned with the Planetree components.  On a daily basis I interact with patients, families, employees and other stakeholders to understand their needs and guide the organization towards meeting these needs.  I frequently receive positive stories of patient centered care and celebrate these daily with caregivers throughout the organization.  (I encourage all staff to do the same.)  Long ago, I chose a health care career because I wanted to help people.  I am not motivated by excelling at performance measures, by and large.  Patient centered care principles go deep to my being and reconnect me with my purpose for living.
